A couple weeks ago, April 3-6, I had the opportunity to attend a Captivating retreat in Colorado. Captivating is a women's retreat based on the book Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge. John Eldredge wrote the men's book Wild At Heart. I went with two other girls in our small group at church - JT and Tianay. What a treat to spend spend a few days with them! The retreat was held at Frontier Ranch, a Young Life campground outside of Buena Vista, CO. It was wonderful! Frontier Ranch was very nice (especially as far as bunk-bed-youth-camp kind of places go). The weather was cold, but sunny most every day. The food was good and served family-style - we ate a lot! The sessions each day were led mostly by Stasi Eldredge and two other ladies who are part of the Ransomed Heart ministry team.
Some main points of the weekend: We all have our questions - Am I beautiful? Am I worth fighting for? These are answered early in our lives by our fathers and ultimately by our Father. We all have wounds that we have received from people and circumstances in our lives. We make vows or agreements in order to cope with those wounds. These agreements can be that we are not good enough, not whole, stupid, not worthy of love, etc. God wants us to break those agreements, see them as the lies that they are, and see ourselves as the people God wants us to be! We are beautiful because we are made in His image and He jealously fights for our hearts everyday!
